It's a firearm I have liked for a long time, It's not always my very favorite, I'll go through spells of carrying this if I'm going to pocket carry. It has a really nice trigger, almost too nice for a pocket gun or a carry gun. Feels pretty good to shoot, very accurate they've been reliable in all sort of things.
The EC9s is very similar to Ruger’s earlier single-column LC9, which was originally designed to serve either as a primary citizen-carry tool or as a full-power, full-featured, no-compromise backup for off-duty law enforcement officers. The main difference is the EC9s’s sights are integral to the carbon-steel slide. The 9mm Ruger EC9s fits in a hip pocket, weighs just 17.2 ounces, holds 7+1 rounds, and is surprisingly comfortable to shoot.
If you are looking for a true single-stack gun, you could sure do worse than buying an Ruger EC9s. For a not-very-high price tag, you get a lot of gun for your money. Not only that, you also get Ruger's traditional and respected build quality. 9mm pistols have come a long way for concealed carry and this Ruger is evidence of that. You have at least seven 9mm cartridges ready in your hand. This will comfort many of you concealed carriers out there. I know it comforts me when I have such armament on my person.
I took the EC9s out to the range and, as I tend to do with a new pistol, the first shot out of the gate was a single, slow solid hit in the A-zone at 10 yards. I noted that while fairly light, the travel on the trigger was definitely noticeable, but not enough to make me see it as a detrimental flaw. One characteristic that the EC9s shares with many of the micro compact 9mm pistols on the market is the recoil impulse being concentrated on a significantly narrower portion of your hand. On more than one occasion when shooting with friends, the groupthink afterwards is that they don’t want to put too many mags through the gun in the same day.
I frequently carry a full-size pistol. Compared to that, this little pistol is a fresh breath of air and a much smaller pain in the waist. The single-stack design of the pistol and its compact size seem to square up the grip area some. This felt to me just a little less comfortable than I’d like, but these are just one person’s opinions. All things considered, I think the EC9s is a decent choice. I like the gun more than I expected to. The price point makes it an extremely easy pistol to get into carrying. The various safeties and its small size also make it an easy choice for newcomers to the concealed carry gang. I think it punches at its price point, but you won’t want to compare it with something like a Sig P239.
Though I have been lucky to handle untold quantities of pistols over the years, I’d never consider myself an expert on the subject. I am a gun nut though, and that is the only qualification I can claim expertise in. I love a good pistol the same as the next guy, and today I’d like to present another new-to-me pistol: The Ruger EC9.
The EC9s is obviously not for competitive shooting. That being said, the 10- to 15-yard range with seven bullets fits it well enough when you happen to find yourself in a self-defense scenario.
If you haven't figured it out by now, I like the Ruger LC9s series of semi-automatic pistols. So much so, that I bought one for myself before conducting any formal reviews. The new fixed sight EC9s provides nearly all of the same advantages as the LC9s model but at a lower price. Real world pricing for the LC9s is hovering right around $300 these days with the EC9s selling for an average of $50 less. Whichever you choose, these pocket 9 mms are a lot of bang for the buck.
This is a striker-fired pistol. As with many striker-fired handguns, Ruger added a pivoting safety lever in the center of the trigger. This helps to prevent accidental discharges when the handgun is dropped.
The EC9s feels a lot like a traditional LC9 if you’ve held one of those. Ruger textured each side of the grip with a non-abrasive but rough pattern. Expect the grip to swell near the back, providing more room for your fingers. We noticed a bit of extra recoil from the grip’s curvature and a relatively shallow pocket.
The EC9s is both reliable and affordable. This striker-fired, sub-compact pistol has a short, light, crisp trigger pull that make it fast and accurate. It’s slim and lightweight, making it a great compact choice for concealed carry. The checkered grip frame provides a secure and comfortable feel in the hand. The EC9s trigger has an integrated safety, and the pistol also has a manual safety and an inspection port that allows for visual confirmation of a loaded (or empty) chamber. The capacity on the EC9s is seven rounds, and the magazine has an integrated pinky extension. If you like colors other than black, this one is available in many options.
Compact and lightweight, the EC9s from Ruger is slightly larger than the company’s popular LCP. The EC9s provides 7+1 capacity and a short, light, crisp trigger. The grip features the Hogue Beavertail HandALL grip sleeve for a solid purchase of the firearm. Similarly, an included finger grip extension floorplate can be added to the magazine for comfort and improved grip.
Ruger’s EC9s offers a rugged choice in pocket pistols thanks to its durable glass-filled nylon frame, a polymer grip, and sights milled into the steel slide. The slide and barrel are both finished in corrosion-resistant black oxide to withstand years of hard use.
Satisfied with the handgun’s accuracy, I moved to shooting with speed (or, at least, as well as I can approximate it) from seven yards. Eight shots and three and a half seconds later, I’d managed to produce the pattern you see below. I won’t be winning any awards, but I was pleased with the EC9s’ performance. Despite the heavy trigger and long reset, Ruger’s new handgun can handle the shot split times that might be necessary in a self-defense situation.
The Rossi 971 has a 4-inch barrel with a full underlug and adjustable sights. It weighs 32 ounces. With an overall length of 8.5 inches, it’s easily concealable under a light coat in a pancake or high-ride holster. Its MSRP is $399.
The striker-fired action featuring a short, light, crisp trigger pull is ideal for faster, and more accurate shooting. In addition to the manual safety, the EC9s also includes an integrated trigger safety, a magazine disconnect, and an inspection port that allows for visual confirmation of a loaded or empty chamber. The EC9s from Ruger is ideal for everyday concealed carry.

Didn't like this gun at all. The laser was basically useless. Not bright what so ever. The grips are at bit small and allowed the gun to move around. It seemed to come back in the hand a little hard. I ended up getting rid of it and getting a charter arms

Bought this gun a couple weeks ago and so far very happy with it. Put about 50 rounds through it and the recoil is very manageable. Mostly carry in the pocket, and you hardly know it's there. The lazer helps to aquire target. Nice little revolver.

I bought this one for a EDC light weight Wheel Gun. I could not be MORE pleased. The manual says the laser is factory set for 25 feet. Not being the trusting kind, especially if my life could be on the line, I double checked accuracy with a bore style las

I bought the Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard .38 Special Revolver as a concealed carry weapon from Academy and their friendly staff. The fact that it only weight a little over 14 ounces plus the load makes it easy to conceal. I love the Crimson Trace
